Qualifications & Experience

Qualification I hold a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Tivoli Institute, Dublin, 2006), a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychotherapy (University of Sheffield, 2012), and a Diploma in Counselling Supervision (PCI College, Dublin, 2025). Over the years, this training has supported my work with clients on a wide range of issues, and more recently, it has enabled me to guide and support other counsellors in their professional practice.

10++ years in Psychodynamic psychotherapy
I graduated as a counsellor–therapist in 2006 and have been working in private practice ever since. Over the past 19 years, I’ve supported clients through a wide range of challenges including addiction, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, and life transitions. My approach is grounded in creating a safe, supportive space where clients can explore their experiences openly and without judgment. I draw on evidence-based methods while tailoring therapy to the unique needs of each individual. At the heart of my work is a belief in people’s capacity for growth and change. I see therapy as a collaborative process — one where we work together to build insight, develop coping strategies, and create lasting positive shifts in life.
Approach I work from an integrative perspective, drawing on a blend of person-centred, existential, and cognitive behavioural therapies (CBT). This means I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all model of therapy. Instead, I adapt my approach to each client’s unique situation, needs, and goals. From a person-centred foundation, I offer empathy, acceptance, and a non-judgemental space where clients can explore their experiences safely. Through an existential lens, I help clients reflect on deeper questions of meaning, freedom, and personal responsibility, particularly when facing life transitions or feelings of emptiness. Using tools from CBT, I support clients in identifying unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours, and in developing practical strategies to create positive change in daily life. Together, these approaches allow me to balance depth and reflection with practical skills and coping strategies — so clients feel supported not only in understanding themselves more fully, but also in moving forward with confidence in their lives.
